Synopsis
Madeleine Watteau, a wealthy Parisienne, arrives at the Hotel Splendide coincidentally with the coming of Pierre Lussan, broke and hired for "atmospheric" purposes. Madeleine's fiancé, the Marquis de Cerisey, excuses himself from an engagement with her because of a headache while Pierre telephones Loulou, a dancer, and is refused a proposal of marriage. Madeleine is infuriated to learn that the marquis is in the dining room with another woman, and Pierre sees Loulou with a gay old blade. When placed at the same table, the jilted parties decide to win back their former flames by getting married to each other, after which they will divorce. They soon realize their jealousy of each other's erstwhile partners and realize also that they are meant for each other.
