Synopsis

When Pierre Landis' insane jealousy of his wife Joan drives him to brand her as his property, she is rescued by playwright Prosper Gael. Gael shoots Pierre and takes Joan away to his secret retreat. He leads Joan to believe that Pierre is dead, while he surreptitiously writes a play based on Joan's life. When Joan discovers Gael's motives, she becomes angry and leaves him. Several years later, while in New York, Joan attends Gael's play. Pierre, since recovered, is also present. The drama profoundly moves Pierre, and when he sees Joan in the audience, he begs her forgiveness. Joan reconsiders and gives Pierre another chance.
