Synopsis

Provoked by Joan Randle's accusation that he is too lazy even to be bad, Jim Cleve goes west and joins a notorious band of outlaws known as the Border Legion. Joan regrets her action, follows Jim, and is captured by Kells, the legion's chief. She is forced to shoot Kells in self-defense but nurses him back to health, and Kells falls in love with her. Joan and Jim later escape during a raid on a mining camp, but they are among the victims of a stagecoach holdup: Joan is recaptured and Jim is shot. Kells and Gulden cut cards for Joan and the gold, Gulden wins, Jim arrives in a weakened condition and battles for Joan, and Kells gives his life so that Joan can escape from Gulden with Jim.
