Synopsis

Devore Palmer, the administrative assistant to W. L. Grimshaw, the president of the Pacific Coast Railroad, is being paid by a rival railroad to delay work on one of Pacific's new main lines. Annoyed by the delays, Grimshaw comes from the East with his daughter, Helen, and quickly hires Gordon Steele, who has just finished supervising work on the construction of a new dam, to see that the railroad line is finished on time. When Gordon realizes that Grimshaw is the man who once fired his father, he vows also to delay work on the railroad; but when he falls in love with Helen, his better nature prevails and he sets about his job with a passion. The work is completed on time, and the angry and humiliated Palmer sets a runaway engine in motion on the main line. Helen learns of this development and rides wildly to a switch in time to divert the engine into a shed, thereby saving the Pacific Limited.
