Synopsis

When Anne spends exorbitant sums of money on clothing, her husband closes her credit accounts. Angered, she goes to bed and begins to dream. In her first vision, the flower on her dress is transformed into the flower that Annie, a poverty-stricken young cripple, is designing. Annie subsequently sells her beautiful hair and leaves so that she will not stand in the way of her sister's happiness. Anne's next dream recounts the unhappy Russian tale of the sable which decorates Anne's gown. The trapper returns with a skin and discovers that his wife is unfaithful. The third episode relates the story of Annette and her dying husband Nicolas, who is a weaver. Annette attempts to work the loom but is unsuccessful. Her old sweetheart Johnny comes to the rescue. In her final nightmare, Anne envisions a mannequin who fights to maintain her reputation and finally murders her boss when he tries to keep her away from his dying mother. Anne then wakes up terrified, cured of her passion for clothes.
