Synopsis

The Black Wolf is the title by which a dashing young Spaniard, the leader of a band of men who rob the rich in order to befriend the poor, is known. Although a price is on his head, he risks capture to escort Dona Isabel, a beautiful noble woman who has wandered into the woods, to the castle of Don Phillip, the duke who desires to marry her. The Black Wolf promises to return, and on one of his visits to the lady, is captured and spared death only through the promise of Isabel to marry the duke. According to the laws, whomever the duke pardons becomes his serf for life, but The Black Wolf escapes serfdom when it is discovered that he is the rightful successor to the title now held by the duke, and the king declares him to be the legal ruler and duke. Don Phillip attempts to assassinate The Black Wolf, but is killed in a duel with his successor, and the real duke and Dona Isabel are at last united.
