Synopsis

Documentary about the Shoshone Indians of Nevada and their fight with the United States government to claim part of the twenty-four million acres of land ceded to them in an 1863 treaty. Unfortunately for the tribe, the Federal government gave way to the wishes of white cattle ranchers and destroyed a pine forest that the Shoshone used for their income, making the land available for grazing. The Shoshone way of life, their poor living conditions, and the workings of their tribal government are shown, as is the confrontation between the tribe's activists and Federal agents. And a 115-year-old Shoshone elder is interviewed about the destruction of his people's way of life.
