Synopsis
In Los Angeles, a groupie high on drugs succeeds in seducing the rock star she follows. Later, the rock star picks up a sales clerk and has sex with her. The salesclerk then gets romantically involved with the son of her boss. The son in turn makes advances to a Valley housewife, who is preoccupied with planning the redecoration of her house. The housewife upsets her husband by changing their weekly sex night as she considers a plan to take over running her ecology club, sending the husband off to have an affair with a young hippie. The hippie's lover, a political revolutionary, is later picked up and seduced on the beach by an eccentric movie star. Later the actress romances a film producer in the back of a limousine. The producer then has a fling with the rock groupie. The circle of sexual dalliances leaves all those involved with venereal disease.

Notes
The working title of the film was Love Is Catching. The credits and summary above were taken from film reviews and production notes, which indicate that Calliope was structured as ten brief vignettes. Shelly Fisher's name was variously spelled "Shelly" and "Shelley" in the reviews. According to a November 1970 Hollywood Reporter news item, New World Studios Productions would produce Calliope, but there is no further information on the company's involvement with the film. The same item noted that Borah Silver, who played the "producer," had previously been a film editor.
