Synopsis

The Incredible String Band (Mike Heron and Robin Williamson) is shown in a March 1968 Royal Festival Hall concert, in interview with Newsweek reporter Dick Steele, and being visited at their home by their friends, including "groupies" Rose and Licorice, their constant companions. They describe their interest in mysticism and witchcraft, and they display their talent with a variety of western and eastern instruments (guitar, lute, violin, harpsichord, recorder, and sitar). The film ends with an original mimed playlet, "The Pirate and the Crystal Ball--A Fable," which concerns a pirate's attempt to steal a crystal ball from three fates and thus alter destiny.
