Synopsis
The role of women in the 1937, 44-day sit-in at the General Motors factory in Flint, Michigan is documented. The strike was instrumental in the formation of the United Automobile Workers union. The women recall the sexist nature of the working conditons at the plant and how their participation in the strike was initially unwelcome. But although all of the strikers were men, the women supported the event by cooking for the men during the sit-in, and making signs which were carried by their children.
