Synopsis
A documentary exploring the vital role naval aviation has played in shaping United States history and finally propelling the U.S. to world superpower status. The documentary traces the growth of the Navy's use of aviation beginning with Theodore Roosevelt, who as assistant secretary of the Navy under President McKinley, attempted to make America a naval superpower. Included in the program is film footage from Colonel Jimmy Doolittle's daring raid on Tokyo in April 1942 and scenes from the Battle of Midway in June 1942, which became the U.S. naval victory that turned the tide of war in the Pacific.
