Synopsis

The story of motorcycle culture and the changing of America. Veterans returning home from World War II were not ready to settle down to marriage and family. Thousands of vets purchased motorcycles, formed riding clubs and roamed the highways of Southern California. On the July 4th weekend of 1947, a club called the Boozefighters attended a motorcycle rally in the small Northern California town of Hollister. Thousands of motorcyclists descended upon the town and drag-raced through the streets. "Life" magazine published a staged photo of a drunk astride a Harley-Davidson leering at the camera. This gave birth to the "motorcycle outlaw" popularized by the 1953 Marlon Brando film, "The Wild One."
