Synopsis

Documentary special based on the IMAX film "Adventures in Wild California." The program explores three groups of people inspired by their environment. "Adventurers" introduces adventurers who live for the rush, including: ironworkers Bill Owens and Joe Van Bonn, who ascend the swoop of cable on San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge to grind rivets; Jeff Clark, a surfer who relishes the risk of surfing Maverick, a monstrous wall of water; world champion skysurfer, Troy Hartman and his award-winning cameraman, Joe Jennings. "Explorers" joins crusaders on their exploits, including: botanist Steve Stillet, who descends into giant Sequoias, searching for clues that will ensure their survival; Sue Campbell of the Monterey Bay Aquarium, who teaches orphaned sea otters survival instincts as part of an effort to save the endangered animal; and zoologist Peter Sharpe, who rescues bald eagle chicks that are threatened by man's intrusion, in an effort to return the bird to Catalina Island. "Dreamers" examines how California's boundless terrain has inspired the human heart to dream. The program focuses on the entertainment industry, Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and the wine-growers of Napa Valley.
