Synopsis
Winnie is buried up to her waist in a mound of dirt, unable to escape. A middle-aged woman who has no clue why or how she came upon her unfortunate predicament, she occasionally asks Willie, her unseen partner, but he either doesn't know or doesn't care. For Winnie, time stopped long ago - or rather, it has become such an unending cycle of routine that notions of past, present and future are obsolete. Now only the sound of a bell distinguishes day from night. With no way to release herself from her torment, the only thing to do is cry out in the hope that Willie might answer her. The rare times that he does, Winnie is assured for the moment that "this is going to be a happy day." When the next bell rings, however, Winnie opens her eyes and discovers she is now buried up to her neck.
