Synopsis
Allard Lowenstein was a one-term United States congressman from New York whose life was cut short when he was murdered in 1980. During his political career, Lowenstein helped register African-Americans to vote in Mississippi during the 1960s, and worked on the campaign to secure the presidential candidacy of Eugene McCarthy. Well-known political leaders and ordinary citizens who supported him discuss Lowenstein's work for human rights issues.
