Synopsis

Documentary that profiles some of the tallest individuals on the planet. Although most people would love to be a little taller, being excessively tall can compromise a person's health and severely restrict normal activities. The program travels to London to meet Alex Heaton, a normal 8-year-old boy who is already 5'2" and will probably grow to between 6'10" and 7'2". The program also documents the biological reasons that cause abnormal height. Dave Rasmussen, a violinist in the Milwaukee Orchestra, has Kleinfelters Syndrome, and is 7'3". Joyce Maddox, of Cincinnati, has Marfan's Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder which can produce a number of different symptoms including tall stature. Joyce stands at 6'8-1/2". Chris Greener, who has held the title of Europe's tallest man for over thirty years, suffered from a very rare benign tumor in his pituitary gland that caused excessive growth hormone production and resulted in his 7'6-3/4" height.
