Synopsis
The career of Willard Van Dyke as chief curator of the New York Museum of Modern Art's film department is documented. Originally a photographer, Van Dyke discusses his move from still photography to documentary filmmaking. A committed social activist, Van Dyke expounds on the decline of the policital documentary in the 1950s, and how that led him to pursue a life in academia and museum work.
