Synopsis
James Kutcher lost both legs fighting in World War II. Kutcher was a member of the Socialist Workers Party, and during the McCarthy era, the United States government attempted to stop his disability pension. Kutcher also lost his job as a clerk in the Veterans Administration, and was deemed a subversive by the Federal Employee Loyalty Program. Kutcher's long court battle to regain his pension is chronicled in newsreel footage, along with anti-communist statements by Ronald Reagan, and then-President Harry Truman.
