Synopsis
In 1970s, hospital births had a higher rate of infant deaths than home births for the poor. However, having a baby at home was considered to be a nearly criminal act and a strong effort was being made to force women to give birth within the hospital system. The Chicago Maternity Center provided medical care to women who wanted to give birth at home, and this documentary tells the story of WATCH, Women Act to Control Healthcare, which worked to save the center.
