Synopsis
Profile of Sam Sheppard, the doctor accused of murdering his wife, Marilyn, in 1954 and the inspiration for the television series "The Fugitive." Dr. Sheppard swore his innocence, but he was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. By the time he was acquitted in 1966, Sheppard had become a national celebrity. Nearly 30 years after his death, his only son, Sam Reese Sheppard, lost a lawsuit against the state of Ohio for wrongfully imprisoning his father.
