Documentary that examines the death of Yoshi Hattori, a Japanese exchange student who was killed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The resulting criminal case received worldwide attention and sparked an international debate on gun violence and cultural miscommunication. Dressed as John Travolta from "Saturday Night Fever," Hattori and a friend were on the way to a Halloween party when they mistakenly walked up to Rodney Peairs' house, Peairs shot Hattori dead in the driveway of his house. Peairs claimed he told Hattori to "Freeze!" and opened fire when he did not stop moving. When it was speculated that Hattori might not have understood the word "freeze," teachers in Japan responded by preparing lessons in American slang for their students.
