Synopsis
Only 400 people have been said to be stigmatics throughout history, and of them, the Catholic church only recognizes 62. Even in modern times, we are puzzled by the unexplainable phenomena of the five marks of Jesus on people all around the world. The program examines four stories of proclaimed modern day stigmatics, including a deacon, a coma victim and Albino Reale, an Italian man who has encountered Padre Pio, the most recognized stigmatic in Italian history. The program travels to Massachusetts to behold two of the professed stigmatics, Audrey Marie Santo, a young coma victim whose condition has attracted hundreds of followers, and a registered nurse named John Snide, who claims that the wounds on his wrists are the same as Jesus'. Scientific analysis is presented by Dr. Ted Harrison, a professor of theology, and Dr. Marto Margnelli, who has examined the marks on Albino Reale. Father Don Giovanni explains the criteria that one must have to be considered a true stigmatic by the Church.
