Synopsis
Documentary that explores the history of Roller Derby. Traces the sport from its creation in 1935 by Leo Seltzer, through its current reincarnation of Roller Jam, with Leo's son Jerry Seltzer as Commissioner of the World Skating League. Roller Derby made its premiere at Chicago Coliseum in 1935. It gained a national audience through telecasts beginning in 1948. In 1973, Roller Derby played its last game at Madison Square Garden. The 1999 version, Roller Jam, incorporates in-line skates and a longer, wider track.
