Synopsis

Based on "Ricky Nelson -- Idol For a Generation" by Joel Selvin. The movie chronicles the early years of the teen idol, musician and television star and his relationaship with his father, 1930s bandleader/writer/producer Ozzie Nelson. The story opens on New Year's Eve 1985 as Nelson and his band await the plane that will take them to a New Year's Eve show in Dallas. The story flashes back over Nelson's life spanning his years as a teen idol, the cancellation of the television show,"The Adventure's of Ozzie & Harriet," and his subsequent resurrection with the Stone Canyon Band.
