Synopsis
Three thousand years after the Trojan War became legend, director and playwright John Barton set out on his own odyssey to resurrect the ancient stories in a fresh new light, to illuminate the modern world in an epic 10-play cycle entitled "Tantalus," which premiered as the Denver Center For the Performing Arts in fall 2000. The documentary interweaves highlights of the performances with behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the production -- from the challenge and triumph shared by cast and crew, to the creative tensions between Peter Hall and John Barton, whose 30-year collaboration was pushed to the breaking point.
