Synopsis

Adaptation of the Grimm fairy tale "Snow White." The beauty of a beloved princess makes her the target of her evil stepmother, Queen Elspeth.

Snow White's mother dies during childbirth, leaving infant Snow White and her father, John, alone and starving on the icy winter plains. Wandering and delirious, John's tears melt the frozen tomb of a bewitched creature, the Green-Eyed One. In thanks, the insinuating beast grants John three wishes: nourishment for Snow White, a kingdom in which to raise his family, and a queen by his side. But John's cause for celebration is short-lived.

The Green-Eyed One has devious plans for the well-being of his own family. Owing his loathsome, spellcasting daughter, Elspeth, a long-awaited wish, he encourages her desires for appointment to the throne. A kingdom to rule is hers for the waiting. John is anointed king but falls victim to this beautiful queen, Elspeth, now Snow White's evil stepmother, but whose natural form was that of a repulsive witch. Elspeth's malevolent obsession with maintaining her current status as "the fairest of them all" causes her to consult repeatedly her towering hall of mirrors for reassurance. When Snow White's growing beauty surpasses that of her stepmother, the Queen's jealousy becomes a lethal threat to Snow White and anyone who befriends her.
