At the 1960 Rome Olympics, Ali -- then an 18-year-old fighter known as Cassius Clay -- burst upon the international scene, winning a light heavyweight boxing gold medal. At the 1966 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, Ali returned to the world stage to light the Olympic cauldron during the Opening Ceremony. Also during the 1996 Games, the USA Basketball Dream Team presented Ali with a replacement of his 1960 gold medal at halftime of the men's basketball final.
