Synopsis

America is facing a health crisis that could soon cancel out the advances made through the decline in smoking -- the epidemic of overweight children. Since 1963 the number of overweight kids in the United States has almost tripled. About 11 million children, one in three, are now fatter than they should be. The program explores the fat-saturated environments children face today and identifies how cultural landscapes like urban sprawl, eating out, fast food and soda consumption have contributed. The program also examines the damage caused by weighing too much -- including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, cancer and even premature death.
