Synopsis

Rosemary Holmstrom is the widowed mother of 8 year-old T.J. When she is diagnosed as HIV-positive, she is faced not only with the fear and process of dying, but also the shame and fear of the short life ahead of her. Monitored at a health clinic by a sometimes caustic but always understanding nurse, Ruby, Rosemary finally accepts her reality and slowly proceeds to take charge of her life. When she questions the bureaucracy about who will care for T.J. when she's gone, she learns that she has no say in the matter. She quickly determines that she will choose who will love her son and provide him a home.
