Synopsis
Viewers are taken inside Rhode Island's Adult Correctional Institution for a look at how its parole process works. The experience of three parole-eligible inmates is reported as they face the Board. Stanley Waleryszak, 38, is serving a 20-year sentence for assault with a dangerous weapon. He was convicted of assaulting his girlfriend and mother of his son. Now, four years later, the ex-girlfriend is extremely frightened and requests that the board deny his parole. Kevin Bowie, 19, is now serving a five-year sentence. When he accused a friend of stealing $1,500, a fight broke out and Bowie ended up striking his friend's 14-year-old sister twice with a shovel. Joseph Sherman, 28, is serving almost four years for two counts of auto theft. Sherman says he turned to criminal activity 10 years ago after the death of his father. He says his criminal past is now behind him.
