Synopsis
Author and journalist William Dalrymple travels across India exploring some of the country's great spiritual traditions. In the first part, he follows in the tracks of many Hindu pilgrims and holy men who have journeyed into the Himalayas to reach the source of the sacred River Ganges. In the second part, Dalrymple uses an ancient manuscript that details St. Thomas' journey from Palestine to southern India to determine whether his fabled voyage and his mission to spread Christianity in southern India are fact or fiction.
