Synopsis
Documentary about Easter Island, a triangle of volcanic rock in the South Pacific. Easter Island is over 2000 miles away from the nearest population center, making it one of the most isolated spots on Earth. It is best known for the giant stone statues, known as Moai, that dot the coastline. There has been much controversy and confusion concerning the origin of these statues and their hieroglyphics. Thor Heyerdahl suggested that people who built the statues were of Peruvian descent. Others have suggested that Easter Island is the remnant of a lost continent.
