Synopsis

Television movie based on Louis L'Amour's short story about a diamond hunter, Mike Kardec, who agrees to take an American couple, John and Helen Lacklan, deep into the forests of Borneo in search of a raw diamond. The hunter and Helen are immediately attracted to each other. The husband, an arrogant genius whose career has faltered, becomes jealous of their rapport. Before they begin the journey, the couple is lured away from Kardec by a young Dyak boy who shows the couple a massive diamond and promises to find them one of equal value. Kardec warns them that this criminal will certainly kill them, but Lacklan refuses to listen. Understanding the danger, Kardec and his mate Raj follow the group up river, and, despite the odds, they are able to save the couple from execution by the Dyaks, as well as retrieve the infamous Diamond of Jeru.
