Synopsis
Retelling of the 1972 Joseph Wambaugh book and the 1979 movie ("The Onion Field"). On March 9, 1963, two Los Angeles plainclothes police officers were kidnapped during a routine traffic stop. They were driven to a remote onion field in Bakersfield, California, where one of the cops was executed. The other escapes. The book chronicles the kidnapping and murder of officer Ian Campbell and the subsequent fall from grace of the surviving officer, Karl Hettinger.
