Synopsis
Documentary about the thousands of people around the world who are flocking to evangelical healers in search of a cure for pain and disease. The program goes behind the scenes to find out what happens at mass evangelical gatherings, follows a number of people searching for miracles and investigates the evangelists' claims. The Charismatic Christianity movement claims 540 million followers worldwide, making it the fastest-growing religious phenomenon on earth today. The program focuses on two of the most prominent evangelists in Charismatic Christianity: Benny Hinn, a Canadian of Palestinian descent who preaches to mostly white crowds in North America, and Reinhard Bonnke, a German who preaches in Africa. The program also features scientific experts, including Dr. Neil Abbott and Dr. Michael Persinger, who discuss how the brain can overcome chronic pain, at least temporarily, through the power of suggestion.
