Synopsis

Filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici sets out to find the Lost Tribes of Israel and solve a two-thousand-year-old mystery. The program takes viewers on an adventure to the most remote places on Earth in search of a prophecy: "And it shall come to pass... that He will assemble the dispersed of Israel... from the four corners of the Earth." (Isaiah 11) Over 2700 years have passed since the Assyrians conquered the kingdom of Israel, taking into captivity the tribes of Reuven, Simoen, Issachar, Zevulum, Menashe, Ephraim, Dan, Naphatali, Gad and Asher. Only the tribes of Judah and Benjamin remained. Most Jews today claim descent from these tribes. But what happened to the others? In ancient days, the apostles Paul and James mention the tribes and there is even a belief that Jesus ventured to India in search of them. In Medieval Europe, it was speculated that Mongolian invaders were the Ten Tribes come back for blood. In modern times, Mormons believe that Native Americans are descendants of the tribes. Though scholars have scoffed at all of these stories, theories about the lost tribes continue to proliferate.
