Synopsis
Documentary about the expedition to search for Captain Kidd's flagship, The Adventure Galley, in the harbor at Sainte-Marie, Madagascar, off the coast of Africa. The expedition is led by explorer Barry Clifford, historian Kenneth Kinkor and marine archeologist John De Bry. The team was able to pinpoint the ship's location in the harbor's football field-size "careening area" after uncovering crucial, previously overlooked historical documents in British and American archives, and through the use of satellite imaging of the harbor. The team will use its archeological findings to learn more about Kidd's fateful voyage, to clarify the crucial role the ship played in both American and British history, and shed further light on the lives and actions of 17th century pirates.
