Synopsis

Special profiles three people who have made personal sacrifices to benefit others and their communities: Dana Christmas, Jane Smith and Liz Parrow. When Seton Hall University student Dana Christmas went to sleep one night and was awoken by an early morning fire bell, she ran through the halls to alert her dorm-mates that their lives were in danger. Although she suffered burns on over 63 percent of her body, her selfless act of heroism saved many young lives. Eighth grade science teacher Jane Smith was watching her students play football one day and noticed that 15-year-old Michael Carter wasn't able to keep up with the other kids. When asked about his lethargic performance on the field, Michael divulged that he was suffering from an unhealthy kidney that required dialysis. In a selfless act, Smith donated her kidney to the young boy. Liz Parrow lost her husband and daughter when a drunk driver hit their car. When it came time for Wade Farr to pay for his actions, Parrow's altruistic act of forgiveness took many by surprise. She asked the judge to be lenient with Farr. The judge sentenced him to three years in a local prison at night only. Today, Parrow and Farr visit local high schools educating youngsters about the dangers of drunk driving.
