Synopsis
The last 10 years have transformed Postville, Iowa, population 1,500. In 1988, Aaron Rubashkin, a New York entrepreneur and Hasidic Jew, bought an abandoned meatpacking plant in Postville and reopened it as a kosher slaughterhouse. Trained Rabbis were hired to oversee the koshering process and other Jews followed. Soon, the plant's 400 jobs attracted Hispanic and Eastern European workers.
