Synopsis

A two-part program broadcast as part of the "Campion" series for "Mystery!" Set in England in the '30s, the story features the unconventional detective Albert Campion, based on a series of novels by mystery writer Margery Allingham. Caroline Faraday refuses to call in Scotland Yard when Uncle Andrew appears to be missing, so her niece Joyce asks Albert Campion to investigate. What he finds is a web of family intrigue where no one is above suspicion, including Uncle William, who suffers from blackouts and whose gun is missing. Events at the Faraday house take a sinister turn as Campion investigates a second death in the family. Uncle William claims his injury, sustained in the middle of the night, was caused by a stray cat. Aunt Kitty thinks the Faraday home is possessed by evil forces and is convinced that Andrew has come back from the dead to haunt them. Although Campion warns her that no one in the house is safe, Aunt Caroline refuses to leave.
