Synopsis

Living in the shadow of his diabetic and overprotective mother, Junior Brown's dream is to play the piano. Unfortunately, due to his mother's volatile temper, the strings on the family piano have been cut. Even his neurotic piano teacher, Miss Peebs, won't let Junior touch her piano. Instead, he has to tap out the tunes on her dining room table. Along with his friends Buddy and Butter and the school janitor, Mr. Pool, Junior is building a model of the solar system. Buddy and Junior escape into a fantasy world with their solar system of ten planets; the tenth being "The Planet of Junior Brown," where Junior hears the music he dreams of playing. As Junior retreats more and more into this universe, his friends take it upon themselves to give him the opportunity he yearns for: to play the piano and turn his musical aspirations into reality.
