Synopsis

Mary Tyler Moore and Valerie Harper return in their old sitcom roles of Mary Richards and Rhoda Morganstern, respectively, from the series "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." Mary Richards has returned to New York City from Europe, still mourning the death of her congressman husband five months ago. Rhoda Morgenstern Gerard Rousseau also has returned to her native New York to make a fresh start after living in Paris and divorcing her husband Jean Pierre Rousseau. Now, both single with college-age daughters -- Mary's Rose is a student at New York University and Rhoda's Meredith is pre-med at Columbia -- they reestablish their friendship. They're taking on New York City and the challenges of finding new careers at a difficult time in their lives.
