Synopsis

Presentation of the musical "Ipi Ntombi," which means "Where are the girls," performed at the Baxter Theater on the campus of the University of Capetown in South Africa. The story, set in rural Africa, depicts a young man Duduzi, who falls in love and plans to marry the young maiden Tembu. Duduzi's family demands a traditional tribal marriage, but Duduzi prefers the ways of the city and longs for a "city-style" Christian wedding. The influences of the city prevail and Johannesburg is the setting for a celebration complete with traditional dances and songs.
