Synopsis
Holo Mai Pele (Pele Travels) tells the epic saga of the rivalry between Pele, Hawaiian goddess of the volcano, and her sister Hi'iaka. The story is told through a performance program of ancient hula and chant, weaving together archetypal themes of creation, love, and betrayal. Performed by the Hawaiian dance company Halau O Kekuhi, which translated the saga to the contemporary stage by combining the traditions of Hawaiian chant and hula with innovative elements of Western theater.
