Synopsis
A woman must choose between her successful career and caring for an aging father who can no longer care for himself. Katherine Barton is a successful book editor at a top New York publishing firm. She has a comfortable relationship with longtime boyfriend, Jack, and is happy with her life, until the day she gets a phone call that her father is in trouble and needs her help. Katherine returns to her hometown of Oakmont, Virginia, where she finds her father confused, disheveled and losing track of time. Katherine organizes his daily routine and switches his doctor to a more reliable gerontologist. Katherine tries to shuttle between New York and Virginia, but that doesn't solve the problems. Although her sister, Meg, and Charles' doctor, Dr. Warren, look in on Charles regularly, it becomes clear that permanent supervision is necessary.
