Synopsis

Over a three-year-period, filmmakers Alan Levin, Marc Levin and Daphne Pinkerson went behind the walls of prisons to talk to inmates, guards and officials about the problem of prison violence. What they came away with was the story of one murder that was captured on video in all its cold-blooded entirety at Utah State Prison: a black inmate being held down by a white prisoner, while another stabbed him 67 times. This documentary examines the crime, its racial motivations and its legal aftermath through interviews with the murderer, Troy Kell, his accomplice Eric Daniels, prosecutor Kurt Torgensen and the slain man's brother Larry Blackmon.
