Synopsis
On July 16, 1999, at 8:38 PM, John F. Kennedy Jr., his wife Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and her sister Lauren took off from the Essex County Airport in JFK Jr.'s Piper Saratoga. They were headed toward Martha's Vineyard to drop off Lauren, then, the Kennedys planned to go on to a family wedding in Hyannisport. About an hour after take-off the plane made contact with flight controllers approximately 17 miles off Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, saying they expected to arrive about 10 PM. The passengers were never heard from again. The program details the plane's movements throughout the trip, and reconstructs the flight with radar records, ground-controller and pilot interviews, as well as detailed theories as to the cause of the crash.
