Synopsis
Documentary of an expedition from Port Canaveral, Florida, to locate and recover NASA's Liberty Bell 7 spacecraft. In 1961, the capsule, after successfully carrying the second Mercury Astronaut, Virgil "Gus" Grissom, into space, sank after the vehicle's explosive hatch jettisoned prematurely. While Grissom was rescued, Liberty Bell 7 was the only manned spacecraft not recovered by NASA. It remained on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean near Great Bahama island for 38 years until its recovery on July 20, 1999.
