Synopsis
Documentary that combines eyewitness ghost sightings, reenactments and archival materials to reveal events from which our modern ghost stories are born. "The Tragic Queen" relates the treacherous life of Mary, Queen of Scots, beheaded for treason by her cousin Elizabeth I. Mary's ghost is said to wander restlessly throughout Scotland and England. "The Witchfinder General" tells of the 17th century witch hunts in England, led by Matthew Hopkins, a young man obsessed with witchcraft. Thousands of innocent people were accused, tortured and hanged. Witnesses claim to have seen the ghosts of the victims of this cruel past. "Ghosts of Slavery: The Myrtles Plantation" visits a 200-year-old Louisiana plantation house with a turbulent past. Chloe, a young slave girl, was the concubine of her master Judge Woodruff, and nursemaid to Sarah Woodruff's three daughters. Sarah singled out Chloe for punishment, and when Chloe tried to win Sarah's favor, she accidentally killed Sarah and two of her daughters. "The Legacy of the Battle of Little Bighorn," also known as Custer's Last Stand, was a clash of beliefs, cultures, and conflicting worlds that reverberates forever in U.S. history. People who visit the site recall their encounters with the ghosts that haunt the tragic landscape.
