In 1997, Ira Einhorn was found living in France, but French authorities refused to allow his extradition to the United States until Pennsylvania re-wrote its statutes that allowed for trials in absentia. The State promised to give Einhorn a new trial, and as of May 1999, he was appealing his extradition.
